St. Gheorghe Church, Armășești

In the absence of coherent public infrastructure, the church remains one of the few representations of public space in the Romanian villages. As a space where local people have regular access, that is shared and taken care of by the community, the church becomes a symbol of the collective, but also an opportunity for social responsibility that is hard to match in a local rural area.

A church, a bell tower and a historic wall define the space where the villagers from Armășești meet on Sunday mornings. The buildings need repairs that are addressed by a restoration and structural consolidation project.
