Snail house, Bucharest
A house built around an outside place, cut from a rich garden with fruit trees and vegetables, develops a series of spaces with different intimacies.
The central space – the courtyard connects the garden experiences with the interior moments of the house through a series of stairs at different levels and supports the diversity of the places around, high or short, open or withdrawn, buried or raised.
The “garden” room, although under the same roof, is trimmed by the house through a privileged access from the yard, opens on three sides to the outside and the interior comfort is achieved using only fire, for both light and heat. The place thus created functions autonomously, being an archetypal reminder of the first house from the client’s childhood.
